Embracing the Call to Lead: A Global Leadership Devotion
In the early days of the church, as the number of disciples grew, the leaders encountered a significant challenge. Acts 6:1-7 (KJV) vividly describes how the Hellenistic Jews raised a concern that their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. Recognizing the need for focused leadership, the Twelve disciples gathered all the believers and devised a strategic plan. At this moment, they marked a crucial turning point for the early church as they sought to address the growing community’s needs while maintaining unity and fairness among its members. The leaders’ approach and initiative in addressing the issue ensured the equitable distribution of resources and set an example for future conflict resolution within the church. The disciples demonstrated exceptional strategic thinking and delegation. They identified a critical need and made a decisive move to address it. They instructed the believers to choose seven men from among them who were known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. In biblical context, the disciples delegated responsibilities to chosen leaders, which allowed them to focus on their primary mission. Similarly, in the modern global context, effective leadership delegation frees leaders to concentrate on strategic goals while empowering others to take on key roles.
