Why is it better to give than receive?
Giving is important because it has many benefits for both the giver and the receiver. Here are some of them:
– Giving makes us feel happy.
– Giving to others activates regions of our brain that are associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust.
– It also releases endorphins, creating a “helper’s high.”
– Giving is good for our health.
– Giving can lower our blood pressure, increase our life expectancy, reduce our stress levels, and boost our immune system.
– Giving also reduces the risk of dying from chronic illness or old age.
– Giving inspires others to give back.
– When we give, we create a ripple effect of generosity that can influence our community and the world.
– Giving can also advance the kingdom of God by spreading His love and grace.
The Bible has many verses that talk about giving and generosity and how they are pleasing to God and beneficial to us. Here are some of them:
– Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
– This verse means giving brings more joy, satisfaction, and reward than receiving.
– It also reflects the character and example of Jesus, who gave His life for us out of love.
– Giving is a way of expressing our gratitude to God for all He has given us and sharing His love and grace with others.
– 1 John 3:16-18: “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. Moreover, we should lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
– This verse shows us that giving is a form of love and that we should follow the example of Jesus, who gave His life for us.
– It also challenges us to be generous with our material possessions and to show compassion to those in need.
– It reminds us that giving is not just about words or speech but about actions and truth.
– Luke 11:13: “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
– This verse teaches us that giving reflects God’s nature and that He is the ultimate giver.
– It also assures us that God will give us the best gift, the Holy Spirit, if we ask Him.
– It encourages us to trust in God’s goodness and generosity.
– Matthew 6:19-21: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
– This verse warns us not to be attached to worldly possessions, which are temporary and vulnerable.
– It also urges us to invest in heavenly treasures, which are eternal and secure.
– It reveals that our giving reflects our heart’s condition and priorities.
Yes, giving is better than receiving because it benefits both parties involved. Giving makes us happier, healthier, and more connected to others. It also pleases God and aligns us with His will. Giving is not only a duty or an obligation; it is a privilege and a blessing. Let us give generously and joyfully, knowing that we are storing treasures in heaven and making a difference in this world.
Have you ever wondered what it means to be a giver? Many think giving is only about donating money or things to charity, but that is not the whole picture. Giving is much more than that. Giving is a mindset, a lifestyle, a way of being in the world.
Giving is not about money or material things and what we cannot take when we leave this earth. We can also give our time, skills, talents, service, or emotional support to others. There are many ways to give that do not cost anything but can have a considerable impact. Giving is a choice we can make every day, enriching our lives in many ways.
In this blog post, I want to share some of the benefits of giving and ways you can practice giving in your daily life. I hope that by reading this, you will feel inspired and motivated to become more generous and spread kindness and joy wherever you go.
Benefits of Giving
Giving has many positive effects on our well-being, happiness, and health. Here are some of the benefits of giving:
– Giving makes us feel good. When we give to others, we activate the reward centers in our brain and release hormones like oxytocin and dopamine that make us happy and satisfied. Giving also reduces stress and anxiety and boosts our self-esteem and confidence.
– Giving strengthens our relationships. When we give to others, we show them that we care about them and that they matter to us. Giving also creates a sense of trust, gratitude, and reciprocity between us and the recipients of our generosity. Giving also helps us connect with people who share our values and interests and who can support us in return.
– Giving improves our health. When we give to others, we improve our physical and mental health. Giving lowers our blood pressure, improves our immune system, and reduces inflammation. Giving protects us from depression, loneliness, and isolation and enhances our cognitive function and memory.
– Giving makes us happier. When we give to others, we increase our happiness and satisfaction with life. Giving also helps us find meaning and purpose in our existence and aligns us with our values and passions. Giving also makes us more optimistic, resilient, and hopeful about the future.
Ways to Give
We do not give occasionally or only on special occasions. We can give every day, in every moment, with every person we encounter. Here are some of the ways you can practice giving in your daily life:
– Give your attention. One of the simplest and most powerful ways to give is to give your full attention to someone. Listen to them with empathy and curiosity without judging or interrupting them. Make eye contact, nod, smile, and ask questions. Show them that you are interested in what they have to say and that you value their perspective.
– Give your appreciation. Another easy way to give is to express your appreciation for someone or something. Say thank you, compliment them, write them a note, or hug them. Let them know how much you appreciate their presence, actions, qualities, and gifts. Appreciation is a form of recognition and validation that can make someone’s day.
– Give your help. A more concrete way to give is to offer your help to someone who needs it. You can help someone with a task, a problem, a challenge, or a goal. You can offer your skills, knowledge, experience, or resources. You can also volunteer for a cause you care about or donate to a charity you support.
– Give your kindness. A more subtle way to give is to be kind to someone. You can be kind by being polite, respectful, courteous, or friendly. You can be kind by being generous, compassionate, forgiving, or understanding. You can be kind by being supportive, encouraging, inspiring, or uplifting.
– Give your love. The most profound way to give is to love someone unconditionally. You can love someone by accepting them as they are without trying to change them or control them. You can love someone by being loyal, faithful, honest, and trustworthy. You can love someone by being there for them, no matter what.
Giving is about money or material things and what we cannot take when we leave this earth. We can also give our time, skills, talents, service, or emotional support to others.
Giving is a choice we can make every day, enriching our lives in many ways.
I hope this blog post has inspired you to become more generous and practice giving in your daily life. Remember: The more you give, the more you receive. Winston Churchill once said: “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”
Other quotes came from Martin Luther, a German theologian, and leader of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. He had many insights into giving, generosity, and charity. Here are some of his quotes on giving:
“The heart of the giver makes the gift dear and precious.”
“A religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing.”
“I have no use for cranks who despise music, because it is a gift of God. Music drives away the Devil and makes people joyful; they forget thereby all wrath, unchastity, arrogance, and the like.”
“Spare the rod and spoil the child – that is true. But, beside the rod, keep an apple to give him when he has done well.”
“For what God gives I thank; indeed, What He withholds I do not need.”
So, this is yet another day that God has given unto me, Lesallan, the writer of this blog. This, the day of June 29, cannot be repeated. A man with nothing more than himself and God – nothing more than the music playing softly in the background. This day, I remember that Jesus is my Savior and that His love has saved us all. We are all living in a world of hope and peace, and justice: Many people hope for a world where there is less violence, oppression, and inequality, and more respect, dignity, and human rights for all.
Hope for health and well-being: Many people hope for a world without disease, suffering, and death and more access to quality health care, prevention, and treatment for all.
Hope for environmental sustainability: Many people hope for a world without pollution, waste, climate change, and more conservation, restoration, and natural harmony.
Hope for personal growth and fulfillment: Many people hope for a world where they can pursue their dreams, passions, and talents and achieve their goals, happiness, and meaning in life.
Of course, these are not the only hopes that people may have; some may have more specific or different hopes than others. Nevertheless, these common themes reflect the human desire for a better world and self.
What do you hope for in the world today? Welcome to life in the year 2023.
Written by Lesallan in the Third Millenium when Satan had yet to be let out to play. A world where people have yet forgotten about God. A time when social media has become a way to communicate. A world where morals have been forgotten, a world where the word “love” is the hardest thing to describe. God makes no mistakes; He gives us life and emotional response that we as people need to learn from. When others interject their thoughts or emotions, depend on yourself and reject the rest!
