Devotional – Hope and Assurance
Romans 8:22-25, 37-39 (ESV) gives us hope and assurance in times of hardship and suffering. It tells us that the whole creation, including ourselves, eagerly awaits the redemption of our bodies and the restoration of all things. We are saved by hope, the confident expectation of what God has promised and will fulfill. It reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, who has conquered death and sin and made us more than conquerors through Him. This passage inspires us to hold on to faith and love, knowing that God is working all things for our good and His glory.
This passage is all about taking a moment to reflect on our current way of living while also keeping our hope for the future in mind. The apostle Paul reminds us that hope cannot be seen, but it is a virtue we can develop through patience. Plus, he reassures us that nothing in this world can separate us from the love of God, which is in Jesus. That means we are never alone, even during tough times like tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or sword. Neither death nor life, angels nor rulers, things present nor things to come, powers, height, depth, or anything else in creation can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8). This passage inspires us to have faith in God’s promises and His divine plan for our lives and to live with joy and confidence in His love and power.
This passage from Romans 8:22-25, 37-39 (ESV) also shows us how to share the gospel with those who do not know Christ. The apostle Paul tells us that the whole creation longs for the day when God will reveal his glory and set everything right. He says that as God’ children, we also have this hope of glory and resurrection and that we wait for it with patience and faith. He then assures us that nothing can separate us from God’ love, which He has shown us in Christ Jesus. He says that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. This passage inspires us to share this hope and love with others and tell them about the salvation and victory God offers them in Christ.
