Devotional – The Centrality of Christ in Life

This week’s devotional topic reminds me of the centrality of Christ in my life and the church. He is the head of the body, which means He is the source of life, direction, and authority for His people. He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, which means He is the originator and the Victor of the resurrection. He is supreme over everything, deserving of all praise, honor, and glory.

As a follower of Christ, I want to align my spiritual journey with His will and purpose. I want to live in obedience to His commands, dependence on His grace, and anticipation of His return. I want to be part of His body and the church and contribute to its growth, unity, and mission. I want to reflect His character and love in my relationships, choices, and actions.

My spiritual journey has many challenges and opportunities in today’s contemporary world. Some distractions and temptations can pull me away from Christ and His supremacy. There are also opportunities to share His gospel and love with others who do not know Him. There are also ways to learn from other Christians who have different perspectives and experiences than me. I need to be discerning, humble, and be faithful in following Christ. One Bible verse that helps me focus on Christ’s centrality is Philippians 1:21 (NIV): “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” This verse expresses the ultimate commitment and devotion that I want to have for Christ. He is my life and my hope. He is everything to me.

Blessings In Christ,
